TRC Level 4 – Master Refurbisher™

Level 4 is the highest certification in the TRC framework.

This level is not about how fast you can apply a skin. It is about judgement — knowing whether a device should be refurbished at all, how it should be repaired, and where effort adds real commercial value.

A Level 4 Master Refurbisher is trained to recover heavily damaged stock and turn it into Grade A devices using a controlled mix of repair, paint, skins, and screen savers, without overworking low-value units or wasting labour.

This is the level where technicians start thinking like refurbishment managers.

What Level 4 Certifies

A Level 4 Master Refurbisher can:

  • Assess whether a device is commercially viable to refurbish

  • Decide when a unit should be refurbished, repaired, or used as a donor

  • Repair dents, cracks, and structural damage prior to skinning

  • Select and apply the correct paint technique for each defect

  • Prepare imperfect surfaces so skins finish to Grade A standard

  • Combine repair, paint, skins, and screen savers into one controlled workflow

What’s Included

  • Advanced training in cosmetic repair and surface restoration

  • Commercial decision-making frameworks for refurbishment

  • Approved techniques for filler, structural repair, and precision painting

  • Integration of multiple refurbishment methods into one process

  • Practical, judgement-based certification exam

Why Level 4 Matters

Not every laptop should be refurbished — and refurbishing the wrong units kills margin.

Level 4 exists to prevent:

  • Over-investing labour into low-value stock

  • Unnecessary full repainting or part replacement

  • Skins being applied over poor preparation

  • Cosmetic work that looks good but fails long-term

By certifying judgement as well as skill, Level 4:

  • Protects profitability at scale

  • Reduces wasted effort and rework

  • Enables recovery of stock others would scrap

  • Creates technicians who can lead refurbishment operations

There are no speed targets at this level. Quality, logic, and decision-making come first.
